One of my favourite things to do is to binge-watch a tv series or cosy up to watch a movie of an evening or weekend. I always love reading posts about other people’s most recent watches and I always find new things to watch from this so I thought it seemed only right to put together a What I’ve Been Watching Recently post in the hopes you might find something new to watch.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant
A few years back I watched the first two films in the Divergent Series but for some reason, I never watched the Allegiant movie which is the third and last film in the Divergent Series. It came out in 2016 so flash forward four years and I finally managed to actually watch it for the first time after completely forgetting about it.
I won’t spoil any spoilers in case you haven’t seen any of the Divergent films before but the Divergent series in itself is based on the Divergent novels. It’s a science fiction series which sees a futuristic city divided into factions based upon their personality. However, Tris the main character discovers she is Divergent which means she fits into more than one faction. She has to keep her Divergent a secret whilst uncovering a looming war which threatens everyone she loves.
It’s quite a good series and definitely gets you thinking about society in general and how it operates.
You – Season 2
Much like most of the population, I sat down at the end of December and coming into January to watch season 2 of You. This is a series that lives up to the hype that you see everywhere. It is such a gripping series and one that you definitely want to keep watching without any breaks.
I saw that some people didn’t enjoy You season 2 as much as season 1 but I really enjoyed it and I’m already looking forward to You season 3. But if you’ve been living under a rock and have no idea what You is about, You is a psychological thriller starring Joe who is a book-store manager come serial killer who falls in love with a customer named Guinevere Beck. His crush soon develops into a toxic obsession and he does all he can to remove obstacles from their romance.
It’s definitely worth checking out and one to binge-watch season 1 and season 2 over a weekend.
I started watching Dynasty a couple of weeks back and I’m slowly watching episode’s here and there. It’s not a series that has gripped me so far but I do enjoy picking it back up again whenever I have some free time and feel like watching something, usually when I’m alone of an evening and want something easy to watch.
Dynasty is a reboot of the 1980’s series starring two wealthy families, the Carringtons and the Colby’s as they feud for control of their fortune and children. It explores the glitz and glam of extreme wealth but also the dark corrupt world built on backroom deals.
I’m definitely going to keep watching it when I can but I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite series I’ve watched ever.
Where have you been the past few weeks if you haven’t heard of The Stranger?
The stranger is a series I wasn’t interested in until I saw the book in Sainsbury’s the other day and I thought oh that looks good. Matt noticed I was looking at it and suggested that we go home to watch the series. So that’s what we did. We spent two days watching the whole series and even though we’re only two months in, it’s definitely been my favourite TV show I’ve seen so far this year!
The Stranger is focused on a web of secrets that sends a family man also known as Adam Price on a desperate quest to figure out the truth about the people closest to him. It has so many gripping moments and one’s that completely took me by surprise. I love when a series shocks me.

To All The Boys: P.S I Still Love You
A couple of days before Valentine’s day saw the release of the second movie in the To All The Boys series P.S I Still Love You. I loved the first movie To All The Boy’s I Loved Before. It’s one of those cheesy chick flicks that you can’t help but love to watch and I definitely have no shame in admitting that.
Whilst I didn’t think this one was as good as the first one and didn’t feel as special if you get what I mean, I still loved it and I think it is worth a watch if you loved the first one. If you haven’t seen any of them before, then why not sit down to watch them both this weekend?
The series is based on Lara-Jean who over the past few years has written letters to boy’s she has a crush on, before locking them away and never sending them. Her most recent letter is to her older sister’s boyfriend. However one day she discovers the letters have been stolen and it’s not long before she realises whoever stole them, has sent them out causing all her crushes from her past to confront her. Having to deal with confronting her past isn’t all bad when something good comes out of it.
As you can imagine, it is super cheesy, but such a light-hearted and easy watch!
For Valentine’s night, we stayed in and watched a scary movie, Matt loves scary movies so we decided to watch Polariod. Even though I’m sure an anxious person, I don’t really mind scary movies at all so I’m more than happy to sit with Matt and watch them.
Polariod is about a teen who discovers a vintage polariod camera that develops into a darker tale when she finds out that whoever takes their photos with it soon dies after. I didn’t find it to be the best scary movie I’ve ever seen and it was quite predictable, I basically guessed half-way through of how you manage to get rid of the kills but it was still a good watch if you like horrors, but I just probably wouldn’t rush to watch it again.
Winter Love Island
I wasn’t actually going to watch Winter Love Island because I much prefer waiting until the summer to watch it, but I ended up giving in and watching. Although I have missed a few episodes, but it is pretty easy to figure out what is going on by checking your Twitter feed at 9pm each night.
It sees a group of men and women put into a villa to live with each other for up to six weeks with the end goal of falling in love. The couple who makes it to the final and ends up winning has the opportunity to win 50k which they can either keep for themselves or split between them both.
Love Island is something I’ve watched since it pretty much began. I watched the first-ever series, then skipped the second series and then have watched every series ever since. Some series have been better than others and there is always controversy surrounding the series, but I like watching it and it’s always nice to have something to look forward to watching every night.
