What I’ve Been Loving In June

WhatI'veBeenLovingInJuneI’m really into old school style blogging at the moment, so I wanted to do a kind of monthly favourites post, but instead of doing it at the end of the month, I thought about sharing the things I’m loving halfway through. Feel free to share what you’re loving at the moment in the comments. I’d love to know!

I’ve been trying to ease myself back into reading the past year or so because anxiety can really take away your ability to concentrate. I’m always on the hunt for new self-help books and my recent discovery is The Chimp Paradox: The Mind Management Programme for Confidence, Success and Happiness.

This book had been on my radar for a few months now, my therapist had spoken about it before and I’d seen it floating around on social media. But I only picked this up a couple of weeks back and I already would a 100% recommend.

It isn’t just a book for people who suffer from mental illnesses, it is a book for virtually every human being on this earth. It really helps you to understand your mind and the minds of others so much better. I’ve definitely been a lot more mindful since reading this and considered the things I do/say in a more logical way.

Before I sit down with a book at night, I’m sat in front of the TV screen waiting for Love Island to start at night. I’m so glad the new series was back this month. I watched the first series and the last series, so I was so excited about this one. I’m really enjoying it so far and it’s the type of programme you get addicted to immediately.

Another TV show I’ve been loving lately is 13 Reasons Why. I was very sceptical about watching this because I thought it might be too triggering for me, but I actually didn’t find it too bad at all and I’ve been so gripped to it ever since the first episode. It’s so worth the hype.

It definitely is very thought-provoking and raises a lot of awareness for so many important issues that happen every single day in society. I think it’s a good thing a TV series has shone a light on issues like the ones mentioned in 13 Reasons Why.

For the past couple of months, I have been doing some volunteering as a creative social media assistant for an online magazine called The Growing Up Guide. I’ve been enjoying it so much, the group of girls who are involved are so lovely, I’m really passionate about the brand and it’s been so good to put my skills to the test.

Just yesterday I was assigned as social media manager and I’m so excited to have more responsibility! For someone who hasn’t put themselves out there in career terms for a very long time, it feels so good to be making a start and getting to showcase what I’ve learnt.

I’d really recommend you all check out The Growing Up Guide. If you’re a teen or young adult, then The Growing Up Guide will help you navigate your way through adulthood with helpful tips and tricks from a whole host of contributors.

If you want to get involved and write an article, then check out The Growing Up Guide and send an email to editor@thegrowingupguide.com.

I’ve not bothered watching 13 reasons why just because like you, I thought I’d find it too triggering. But I might have to give it a watch because I have heard its a really good show!

It is honestly so good! It really surprised me. I was gripped from the word go!! It is definitely good to bear in mind the triggers, so maybe watch it with someone you’re close with who know’s what you’ve been through, can help massively xx
