Now it’s November, I’ve already noticed a drop in the temperatures every time I venture outside and with Christmas soon approaching, no doubt there’ll be snow falling shortly, which will truly mark winter arriving. Back in September, I did an Autumn Jacket Edit post, so I thought now would be the perfect time to do a Winter Coat Edit to showcase some of the on trend and weather appropriate coats around this season. They’ll be at least one coat you’ll absolutely fall in love with!
The padded/puffer coat –
One on trend coat this season is the padded or puffer coat! Due to its padding and hood features, this coat is perfect for the winter weather and will ensure you’re kept extra warm throughout. There’s a choice between a longline or shorter style when it comes to choosing which puffer coat you go for. But I feel as if a longer fit will keep your more warm. The puffer comes in a range of colours throughout the highstreet and online stores, whether you fancy a classic black colour or a pop of seasonal rust or on trend pink. Puffer coats work so well for everyday casual looks, such as jeans and your favourite knitted jumper, this will ensure you’ll be kept very snug. You could also pair this winter staple with other cold weather essentials like a big scarf, chunky boots and a beanie hat.
The leopard print coat –
Print’s are so on trend this season and this is where the leopard print comes in. You’ve probably seen this print on boots and loafers throughout the Autumn period and now it’s featuring on many coats too. It’s a trend that I think is going to be one that you either love or you hate. For me personally, I’m somewhere stuck in the middle. I think if it’s styled right, then I’m 100% sold. The leopard print coat is definitely a huge staple piece, which is why I think it need’s to be worn in a particular way. Pair it with simple pieces to keep it as the stand out piece, as well as keeping these other parts of your outfits the same colour. All black is a great option.
The duster coat –
The duster coat is one that screams sophistication. It can take your very basic everyday casual looks and add a more dressier vibe to them. With their longline designs, staple neutral colours or bold bright colours or prints, there’s always something there for everyone to enjoy. Even if you’re not the tallest of the bunch like me, you can still pull off this coat with the help of other parts of your outfit and finding the perfect size for you. Not only are they great for everyday wear, but also for important events and nights out. A really great versatile piece that is a must in everyone’s wardrobe!
The faux fur coat –
What’s winter without a little faux fur? Faux fur just makes everything so much cosier. It’s what you want to snuggle into when hopping on public transport in the morning and when heading home in the dark evening. Faux fur coats have been everywhere the past few winter seasons and they’re here to stay. With a range of colours, styles and fits, there’s a whole load of choice out there. Pairing a faux fur coat over your night out look will add ounces of sophistication to your outfit. Whilst during the day it can make the perfect staple and to keep you extra warm on those freezing cold days. Although probably not the best in wet and snowy conditions.
The boyfriend coat –
Another style of coat that has been around the past few season is the boyfriend coat. It is a style that is based on a tailored fit with a masculine twist to it. The boyfriend coat is super easy to wear and one that suits all. It can be worn casually or formally for work or nights out. They’re great to use as layering pieces on top of knits, shirts and other jackets like blazers and keep you feeling super comfy. The boyfriend coat typically sticks to neutral colours like black, grey and camel, but seasonal colours like deep red and khaki also make an appearance.
What coat are you rocking or after this winter?
