It’s been a long time since I did a new in beauty related post and one that included my first impressions. I’ve been testing quite a few products lately that have either kindly been sent to me or I’ve bought myself as I’ve wanted to try them, so here is a round up my first impressions of new in beauty bits.

Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse

I’ve never really been one to reach for the fake tan unless it’s a gradual tanning moisturiser that I can build up over a couple of days. Although the last couple of months I’ve wanted to get better at fake tanning now with the summer months approaching and so I began my search to find a fake than I could use.

I’ve tried a couple of different ones before but I never really got on with them, so I opted for something new and this being the Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse in Medium Matte. I’ve tried the Instant Tan from Rimmel’s Sun range before which I liked and found it worked really well which is what encouraged me to go for something else in the range.

New In Beauty Bits - My First Impressions

Upon my first application, I found the mousse really easy to apply and it was easy to see where the product had applied because it didn’t dry instantly, so you could touch up any areas that needed to be rubbed in more or needed more product without having to rush your application.

I find this really helpful as someone who doesn’t use mousse very often as I could take my time with it and work on my application. This tan only takes an hour to develop which I can definitely agree with as after only a short amount of time I felt really golden and bronzed rather than looking orange and over the top which is always a worry.

When having a shower the next day, the top layer did wash off which does make it less intense, but the colour that it does leave behind is such a natural looking tan. I would also say that this natural golden tan look lasts up to a week before your natural colour starts coming through which I think is just amazing for a fake tan and I definitely will continue to repurchase this!

Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow

I’m a little late to the hype with this one, but I had some money left on a Boots gift card and I thought about treating myself to some new makeup as I haven’t really had anything new in my makeup drawers for a while, so I decided to purchase one of the Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadows in Aura.

Aura is a pale champagne colour with hints of glitter running through the liquid shadow. Even though these shadows retail at only £3.99 they are amazing quality. They’re just as good as my Stila liquid eyeshadows which retail for £20 more. They’re really pigmented and apply with ease onto the lid. A little product definitely goes a long way.

I found the liquid eyeshadow really easy to blend to create a more natural look and that it dried quickly as well which is always handy as no one likes a wet eye. The only negative I have to say about this is that after a few hours I do notice glitter under my eyes, but then again I haven’t yet found a glitter liquid eyeshadow that doesn’t do this.

Overall, I really want to get more shades from the Glam Crystals range. I’m really impressed with the quality and for the price, you cannot go wrong!

Freshly Cosmetics Hyper-Concentrate Eye Contour Serum*

Eye creams and serums are something I definitely need to learn to use more often as it’s one part of my skincare routine I tend to neglect. This one from Freshly Cosmetics also known as the Hyper Concentrate Eye Contour Serum* is one I’ve been trying lately from their Be Radiant Pack*.

When I first used this serum I wasn’t quite sure on it. It was quite watery so instantly I knew that I didn’t need to apply so much product as a little goes a long way. After I had applied it under my eyes and around my eye contour area, I noticed that it felt incredibly sticky, which I didn’t like very much. I didn’t know if this was the product itself or maybe because I had applied too much.

The product itself on my skin left my eye area brighter and more awake. I also noticed that it looked more radiant around my eyes and smooth which meant when it came to applying my makeup after I started with a great eye base. But I’m not sure how I felt about having glowy eyes. I much prefer keeping my eyes matte and the rest of my face to do the glowing.

I think I’m going to have to keep testing this one to see if I can notice any other changes and gather my final verdict for a follow of this new in beauty post.

Freshly Cosmetics Blue Radiant Enzymatic Serum*

Another product included in the Be Radiant Pack and new in beauty right now is the Blue Radiant Enzymatic Serum*. This serum is literally blue. Personally, this really interested me as I’ve never come across nor have I tried a product quite like this.

This serum is a non-irritating exfoliating serum which basically means it’s completely gentle, unlike other exfoliating products that can be harsh and irritate the skin barrier. When I first used this, I didn’t like the smell very much. I don’t know how to even describe it but I just know I’m not a massive fan of it.

Putting the smell related issue aside, I actually really liked the product itself. My skin instantly looked more radiant and hydrated which is always a good thing. It also left my skin looking and feeling so smooth.

I need to test it more to see if any of the claims like treating acne and blackheads, as well as opening pores actually work. I’ll keep you posted.

Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm*

The final new in beauty product is one that after I had tested this product for the first time and now I’m putting together this New In Beauty post, I headed over to the Boots website and was shocked to see the bad reviews that this Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm* had because I honestly really like it.

Nivea has changed the formula of this lip balm so I think that’s why people have been leaving negative reviews. But since I haven’t tried the original I can’t compare it, but I really do like this one. It’s super nourishing and hydrating. I like that it’s quick thick as it gives me that extra boost of hydration.

I had dry skin on my lips when I first used this and within a short amount of time of wearing this, the dryness actually flaked off of my lips which I was really impressed with. Another thing that people didn’t seem to like was the smell, but I didn’t really mind it, to be honest, it smells quite fresh and natural.

I really like Nivea’s lip products. They’re such a classic and for me, this one isn’t any different to the others!

Have you tried any of these products? What’s new in your beauty collection?
