Wow! It feels like forever since I sat down and put together a blog post. I apologise for my absence, but I’m back now and today I am bringing you the second from the last part of the meet the blogger series. Since it was a while ago I last posted, you can catch up with Fran’s meet the blogger post here. But for now, let’s meet this week’s blogger!
Meet Leighanne from the blog LeighAnneSheilaxo. Leighanne is thirty-years-old and from Manchester in the UK. She works full time in health and social care, but when she isn’t working, Leighann loves to share her interest and passion for all things beauty.
I first discovered Leighanne on Instagram and I can always recognise her beautiful images from a mile away. Her photos are always so pretty, girly and floral. She posts beauty and lifestyle-related content over on her blog and her posts are always so friendly and chatty. I like how each of Leighanne’s post is so easy to read and I always trust her beauty recommendations.
Let’s get started with the questions!
I have always had a huge passion for beauty and shared photos of products on Instagram. I wrote little mini-reviews and I’d read other blogs that I found through social media. It wasn’t until someone said to me “Why don’t you start a blog?” I kinda jumped at the idea and started researching how to start a blog and I began writing in April of 2017.
Who inspires you the most in the blogging industry?
I absolutely love reading In The Frow’s blog, Victoria is one of my most “looked up to” bloggers. She is from my hometown too and what she has achieved is mind-blowing. Her personality and passion for the beauty community is so inspiring, one of my reasons to start blogging. I also love reading Mimi Ikonn’s blog too. Mimi is on youtube just like Victoria and I adore Mimi’s outlook on life. She is always so humble, so compassionate and so positive. I love her talking videos as they lift me up when I feel down or not myself.
What keeps you motivated to continue to post regularly on Instagram?
I think I get this from being a student in media and also being a part of marketing companies. We were taught to be consistent in everything we do because that way your audience will see how passionate you are about the topic you’re talking about. Plus I like to be active and provide content for my readers.
What has been your favourite achievement in your blogging journey so far?
I think that has to be what arrived on my doorstep recently. I got a HUGE parcel from Pixi Beauty and I was so surprised I had received some products to try out. I was not expecting it at all. I had seen it all over the gram and when it arrived I screamed (with joy!) It’s because of you guys I’m lucky enough to receive those types of parcels.
If you could only keep ONE blog post on your blog, which one would it be and why?
If I had to choose one it would be the post I wrote on “My 1st Blog Birthday”. The reason for this is because it’s a nice reminder of how long my blog has been going for. It encourages me to carry on writing because never in a million years did I think it would last more than a week never mind a year.
Are there any brands you would love to work with?
Of course…I have always loved the look of products from Guerlain, Givenchy, Dior and Lancome. I’m kinda a champagne tastes lemonade pockets kinda gal and being able to work with brands as luxurious as those I would be made up…even Charlotte Tilbury if I’m lucky enough one day.
How do you come up with blog post ideas?
Recently I have been looking back at content from last year and got some new ideas from those. I also like to look at what’s trending at that particular moment in time for e.g spring and summer related posts. I also keep a lot of magazines and flick through those looking at colours, articles, products, words etc. You can always find ideas on Pinterest too.
Are they random thoughts or do you brainstorm?
Sometimes I do have random thoughts and I keep a notebook in my handbag so If I’m out about and I get an idea I’ll write it down and come back to it later. Sometimes I do brainstorm too, I’ll write down different keywords related to beauty for e.g nudes, pinks, roses etc and try and make a blog post from them. I got a lot of inspiration for this type of thing from Lily at Pint Sized Beauty…(she has a fab post on how to generate blog ideas).
What’s been your biggest blogging challenge so far?
I think the biggest challenge for me has been to stay motivated and inspired (alongside a full-time job). I suppose it’s very easy to fall into a “blogging rut” and luckily I haven’t fallen into that trap that other bloggers may find themselves in. I think I stay inspired as much as I can because my blog doesn’t have a schedule and so there’s no added pressure to write..for me it’s not a chore it’s more of a hobby. I want to be able to enjoy what I create for my readers.
Do you set blog goals? If so, what do they include?
Of course. One of my goals is to be able to add some more lifestyle photos onto Instagram and write up some more lifestyle posts. I want to try and mix it up a bit more and create some content about me, advice for others, blogging tips, life lately posts etc! I would also love to hit 4k followers on Instagram by the end of the year. My goal is 5k but I’m not sure if I’ll get there this year.
How do you manage to blog with your personal commitments like working full time?
I always plan my content. I know what I want to photograph on a certain day and if that will be used for blog posts. I also like to take my photos in bulk so that when it comes to writing the shot is there ready to upload. I take a lot of my photos on my days off or even between shifts because I know I won’t have time on any other days. You have to think ahead especially if you work full time.
Thank you so much, Leighanne for answering these questions. Be sure to check out Leighann’s blog and her Instagram for lots of dreamy beauty photos!
Don’t forget next week is the last meet the blogger post. Which one has been your favourite so far?
