Meet The Blogger - CharsLittleBlog

We’re halfway through the Meet The Blogger series now! Last week featured the wonderful Samantha from the BeautySpyGlass. Today feature includes the ever so kind Charlotte from CharsLittleBlog.

I first discovered Charlotte through her blog CharsLittleBlog and then went to follow her on Instagram. I can’t remember the exact time, but I know that I always find her posts super enjoyable to read. I rarely ever miss a post. Charlotte is super supportive and welcomed me into a support group on Instagram a few months ago where I have got to know her better.

Charlotte is a twenty-three-year-old blogger and photographer from Bristol. She covers a range of topics on CharsLittleBlog including food, travel, fashion and beauty. Her posts are super informative and you learn a lot from one single post on her blog. There’s always something for everyone over on CharsLittleBlog!

Let’s jump into the questions!

1. Hey, Charlotte. How did you first get into blogging?

It was 2015 and I believe my first post was written about Garnier’s Micellar Water, as everyone was talking about it! I also had some pretty crap and questionable photos to go alongside the post. I think I made the decision that I wanted to do something with my Photography A Level, rather than waste it and I’m SO glad that I did because I feel like my photography has become so much better. Especially since I first started blogging. I was very much into YouTube as well, watching the likes of Zoella, and I would say that’s probably one of the main reasons I started blogging.

2. What has been the best investment you have made for CharsLittleBlog?

If I wasn’t a photographer, then I would say my camera, but I had that anyway before I properly started getting into blogging. So, I would probably say my backdrops and blog props. I think they make the world of difference, especially if you don’t have a home or bedroom that is to your taste/style. I feel like they lift a photo massively as well and I just love getting creative, especially with the flat lay’s! A good blog theme that you love is also important, as you don’t want to feel uninspired by your own platform. You can find free ones that are just as nice too, so you don’t have to spend a lot of money on one.

3. How do you stay consistent with your blog?

I try and plan out the post’s I would like to write in advance. Then I also try and have a couple of day’s where I sit down and write them and also take the photos to go alongside them too. My aim is to have at least one or two scheduled post’s, but sometimes life gets in the way and it can be hard to stay consistent! As long as you’re organised, have a plan and stick to it, then it should be fairly easy to stay as consistent as possible.

4. How do you gain inspiration for your content post on both your blog and Instagram?

My surroundings for my blog and Pinterest/other Instagrammer’s for Instagram! I try and think about what I would like to read myself when it comes to blogging. I also have a little look around my room and try and find things I would like to talk about too, cos most of the time ideas don’t just pop into your head when you need them to. I can be out and about when that happens and then I have to set a reminder on my phone for when I get home!

For Instagram, if I’m stuck with how to even begin taking a photo of x product, I will just type that product’s name into the Pinterest search tab. It brings up lots and lots of different styles and types of photos and I then pull inspiration from a few that I like!

I also love taking inspiration from my Instagram feed too and will try and create my own version of photos that I’ve seen before. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using fellow content creators as your inspiration and maybe even picking up the same backdrops/props they use.

It’s just really important that you put your own style on the photos and aren’t copying someone else’s hard work, cos that’s really not cool. Make sure you’re being true to yourself and sometimes I find it really helps to set up a photo, walk away for an hour or so and then come back to it. I do this a lot!

5. Do you have any goals or plans for the year?

I did actually post my ‘2019 Goals’ on my blog recently, so all of my goals are on there. However, one of my main goals was to move out and this will actually be happening at the beginning of February! I also plan to keep consistently posting on all of my social platforms – so that will mainly include my Blog, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.

6. Would you ever like to blog full time or is that something you wouldn’t want to do?

I would absolutely LOVE to blog full time if that ever were an option for me! However, it’s not the be all and end all for me, so I’m happy with it being a hobby or even potentially becoming part-time. I just love creating content and getting creative with my photography, so I think my blog will always be something that I continue to do no matter what.

7. What’s been your biggest blogging challenge so far?

Probably ‘making it public’. As in, people I know in real life being able to follow my journey and see what I’m doing. I think we all panic about being judged/made fun of, so making it all public to get more of your content out there and seen was rather daunting. Luckily, I have really supportive people around me who all think it’s great that I have a blog and am using my photography! Which makes it all SO much easier.

8. Who inspires you in the blogging industry?

I think Zoe Sugg definitely inspires a lot of people. She’s so real, down to earth and genuine and is your typical ‘girl next door’. So, of course, she’s such an inspiration. I also adore Lydia Millen and everything she creates! They both inspire me daily and are such fab women. There’s so much inspiration everywhere you look within the blogging industry and I feel so lucky to be a part of such an incredibly inspirational and talented community.

9. What is your favourite part of your blogging process for CharsLittleBlog?

Watching it all come together! I absolutely love putting the words onto (online) paper and taking photos to go alongside the post. However, once that’s all completed and the photos have actually been taken and approved by myself, seeing the whole blog post completed makes you feel very accomplished.

10. Is there any content changes you’d like to make to CharsLittleBlog e.g adding a new topic or trying a different editing/shooting style etc.

I’d love to start sharing more personal posts, as I find them really enjoyable to write. I just get a little scared of maybe receiving a bit of negativity if someone has a different opinion to me. I absolutely love having discussions with people who do have a different opinion to myself, however, you know what people can be like these days in the online world and some people do not know how to put their opinion across without being rude/mean or starting an argument!

So I just worry about that, but I think I’ll start doing it anyway and just cross that bridge if/when I come to it. I’m also always changing up my shooting and editing style, as I’m never fully happy with either, so I’m sure that will continue to happen!

Thank you so much, Charlotte for letting me interview you! Please do check out her amazing blog and Instagram. I know you will love it!

Does blogging full time interest you?
