How I Try To Maintain Healthy Looking Hair

(Contains a previously gifted item and affiliate links. All items marked with a * are PR samples.) It wasn’t until recently that I’ve somewhat been able to manage healthy looking hair. After stopping dying my hair a few years ago now and only using a low strength bleach on it once a year when I decided to balayage ombre my hair in time for the warmer months, I’ve really been able to get into a good hair care routine and have found products that have helped me to maintain healthy looking hair.

Lee Stafford – Coco Loco Hair Oil

I’ve been a massive fan of Lee Stafford’s hair products and in particular the Coco Loco range for a couple of years now. I received the hair oil in a gift set for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Not only does it smell so fresh and coconutty, but I also find it provides my hair with such a good amount of nourishment. It leaves my hair feeling so soft and helps to prevent any dryness.

It also really helps to smooth down and tame any flyaways without it looking greasy. I tend to use this after I’ve washed my hair and before I blow dry, as well as sometimes during the styling process like when I’ve curled my hair.

Lee Stafford – Coco Loco Coconut Mask

Another from the Lee Stafford range, but one that has been a firm favourite in my collection for a good couple of years now. I first got it when I first bleached the ends of my hair and wanted to prevent damage from the bleach. It works perfectly at doing exactly that by adding moisturise and strength back into the hair.

Therefore is one that I always go back to because I love how it makes my hair look and feel. Again it has the fresh and coconutty smell just like the hair oil. After I’ve used this in the shower and I go to blow dry my hair, I find that my hair doesn’t go as frizzy and instead it leaves it feeling and looking so smooth. It’s definitely a massive help in helping to maintain healthy looking hair.

I would 100% recommend checking out this range if you haven’t already!

Freshly Cosmetics – Nourish Restore Hair Mask*

When I’m not using the Coco Loco mask, I love to reach for this gorgeous one from Freshly Cosmetics also known as the Nourish Restore Hair Mask*. Freshly Cosmetics is becoming one of my favourite brands. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from them. This mask smells so fresh and fruity. It has a citrusy scent to it which reminds me of the summer.

My hair always feels so soft after using this due to the 7 high-quality vegetable oils and natural ingredients contained in this mask. It definitely feels really nourished and really helps to lock in hydration, so works well for anyone who has damaged or dry hair and those who just want to bring a little bit more life back to their hair.

Before my last haircut, I even felt like my hair didn’t feel too dry like it usually would, my hairdressing even noticed and I definitely feel like this mask has played a part in helping to maintain healthy looking hair. I also love how this mask comes in a tube as I feel like you can use the right amount of product and it makes it last longer this way.

Herbal Essence – Bio-Renew Nourish Passion Flower & Rice Milk Shampoo

Herbal Essence is always a brand that takes me back to growing up as it always my go to before I really got into beauty and one that my mum used to use as well. The Bio-Renew range honestly restored my love for their shampoos. I haven’t emptied a whole bottle of shampoo in such a long time before I tried this one.

This nourish passion flower and rice milk shampoo smell’s absolutely insane! I have honestly never smelt a shampoo that smells as good as this one. In terms of quality, it is most definitely there. It really leaves my hair looking and feeling so fresh and cleansed. It contains essential antioxidants that help to restore the hair in just a matter of a few weeks so another great product at preventing dry and damaged hair.  I love how much it helps to maintain healthy looking hair.

It doesn’t dry out my hair and instead leaves it looking and feeling so smooth. It doesn’t irritate my scalp either which some shampoos can have the tendency of doing. All around, I would so repurchase this and most definitely will be.

Tangle Teezer – Millennial Pink Wet Detangler Hairbrush

Now this one isn’t so much a product, but more of a tool that helps to maintain healthy looking hair and it’s my trusty Tangle Teezer. I tried my first tangle teezer a couple of years back and now I wouldn’t go back. They’re such a handy tool and do exactly what they are made to do.

I’ve always hated combing my hair after washing and during styling as my hair gets knotty quite easily. I only used to brush my hair in the morning as I’m getting ready and then would wait until the next time it needed styling to do so which was usually the next day. But since getting a Tangle Teezer, I’ve found myself taking care of my hair through brushing both morning and night.

It really helps to get rid of knots without the friction some brushes and c0mbs can create. It really does help to prevent damages and breakages, which is something I’ve always struggled with. The brush itself makes brushing and combing through the hair so effortless and far from harsh. My hair always looks so smooth and tidy after using this brush.

I stopped being so heavy handed in bleaching my hair and allowed my natural colour to grow through. I still love the blonder mid lengths and ends. I’m a qualified hairdresser and although I’ve not worked as one for years it does mean I can colour my own hair which is helpful. I love tangle teeters too! I have one in my bag, one in my shower and another lying around somewhere! I take hair, skin and nail supplements which helps me maintain healthy hair. Good product choice helps too! Fab post as always x

Aww, that’s great that you get that option! I trained as a hairdresser for a little while after I left school because I wanted to be a hair and makeup artist, but that didn’t work out for me! They’re such a handy hair tool. I’ve never thought about taking supplements for my hair. Such a good tip! Thanks so much lovely xx

    Hey Lauren,
I am always so curious to get to know new products. Personally, my issue is that I am allergic to so many hair and skin care products… Still enjoyed reading your post though. Especially about the Coco Loco 🙂

Great post. When it comes to improving the quality of my hair, what has helped me the most is stopping washing it on a daily basis. I didn’t believe it would make a difference but it really has made such a big difference in the quality of my hair. It’s so much healthier and shinier nowadays.

Thanks so much! Oh yes, not washing it so often can make a massive difference. I only do mine twice a week and it definitely helps a lot. That’s so good to hear. Here’s to happy and healthy hair xx

I much prefer using a Tangle Teezer to a normal hairbrush! I also have that Freshly Hair Mask, but am yet to have the need to use it – I’m thinking Summer/after a holiday, to restore the moisture in my hair 🙂 xo
