The Type Of Blogs I Love To Read

I’ve been reading blogs for way longer than I have been blogging for. Blogs have always been a great place for me to go to escape, gain inspiration and learn something new. With so many blogs out there, there’s always a chance to find blogs that you fall in love with.

I wanted to share with you today the type of blogs I love to read to hopefully bring some positivity back into the blogging community.

We share a similar interest

If a blogger and I share a similar interest, then I know it more than likely I am going to want to check out this particular blog because I know I’ll probably enjoy it. There’s no doubt that you enjoy the things you like and invest your time in wanting to know more about them. If I’m able to learn something new and take away useful things from this particular blog, then the whole experience for me is going to be fun and spark a good reaction inside.

They’re genuine and honest

Being quite an open and honest person myself, I’m all for people being the same back. If a blogger is genuine and honest, then I’m going to be more willing to want to read their blog. I appreciate people who don’t have a problem with sharing their experiences and thoughts, as we all know how scary it can be to put ourselves out there, but it definitely helps us to get to know the person behind the blog better. Also if someone comes across as a nice person and they have a great blog, then that’s an added bonus!

They want to engage

When a blogger shows that they want to engage with their audience and build their own community, it makes you as a reader feel so welcome and gives you that urge to want to get involved. When someone gets back to you, it makes you feel as though you’re appreciated and like they want you to stick around. I love talking to people online and having discussions about shared interests. It’s one of the best things!

I get to learn something new

I like to try keep my brain learning new things everyday, so it is great if I am able to learn something new from someone’s blog. Whether this is new information, tips and tricks, advice or even just useful help that could be applied to a range of situations, learning something new from a blog can be so helpful.

They give me a reason to keep coming back

I feel like these type of blogs that I have listed above give me a reason to keep coming back. Whether it is to learn something new, to interact with a like minded individual, because they’re authentic or because I enjoy reading the blog as a whole, if I have a reason to keep coming back, then I am going to make the most of it as much as I can and enjoy it.

What type of blogs do you love to read?ย

  • Oh my goodness Lauren I agree so much with your reasons! Especially so when I have similar interests to the person and massively so went they love and want to engage genuinely!!! I always try to share my engagement and enthusiasm with everyone through all my platforms but I get nervous I’m being too forward. However hearing that you thoroughly enjoy engagement and a good discussion too I’m definitely going to amp up my engagement strategies all over my platforms because I loveeee having genuine chats with everyone about our interests! ๐Ÿ˜€ The only extra thing I would add to the list for me personally is old blogging style blogs, with GRWM’s and What’s in my Bag’s. I was speaking about this on Lily’s post ( – I think you read it too) the other day where she was talking about injecting her blogging enthusiasm back and she was talking about the old style of blogging too that she misses also. It’s my favourite style of blogging <3.

    • I’m so glad you agree, Ellie! Yes engaging with people and having conversations is such a lovely thing to do. I love those style of posts too. So old school, they’re just fab reads xx

      • Iโ€™m definitely trying my best to encompasses that style of blogging on my own blog! Who knows, maybe it will all become the big trend again when everyone gets fed up with unrealistic or โ€œperfectโ€ blogging and social media? Some of these โ€œperfectโ€ accounts and blogs are art though and for that they are really special but it makes me sad that we are all striving for that perfection in our very day lives which just isnโ€™t real at all! ๐Ÿ™‚ Xx

        • Me too! Yeah I completely agree with you. I’m definitely into more authentic and raw blogs as I can relate to them a lot more xx

          • I feel the same lovely! Whatโ€™s your favourite old school blog post? ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks for the lovely chat in the comments :โ€™D .

          • I love what’s in my bags, product roundups, life updates, those really relatable easy reads. Aww you too xx

  • I try to incorporate something helpful into a lot of my blog posts because that’s really what I love reading as well in other blogs! Even if it’s just advice, I love it if reading a blog can make me think about something in a different way.

  • Fab post, Lauren! Your blog is looking amazing, I’m so glad everything got sorted out. I totally agree with everything you’ve said. I lean towards blogs where I know the people are genuine, especially if it’s for recommendations and advice. I also love blogs where I can learn things too.

  • These are all true reasons for reading and following blogs. Sometimes I love reading them because of their amazing photography or just because I want to support a fellow blogger.

  • I coulnd’t agree more. Sometimes I check blogs and I can’t seem to find anything that would attract me to it. For example, in todays world everybody wants to be perfect – we post perfect pictures, from perfect places with perfect make-up and clothes, but life is not perfect and sometimes I like to read blogs which show more than just instagram-kinda-like posts.
Also I do have a problem with posts which are very short. If there are more pictures than text it doesn’t interest me as much. I like reading and being able to read thoughts of a person from completely different country is more interesting to me than browsing through pictures. I think what makes a blog great is a balance between visual aspects and the actual content. I like Marzia’s blog called marziaslife and I think it’s both full of her words and also quite beautiful. I wish my blog was as nice as hers.

    • I’m glad you could agree, Dorota! Yes that’s exactly how I feel. I definitely like a lot more natural and real authentic posts and photos. Aww I’ll have to check her out, thank you xx

  • I love it when you find a blogger who you can relate to and you spend hours sat reading through their blog posts! But I feel like sometimes this can be hard to find as there as some ungenuine bloggers out there too!

    • Yes that is such a good feeling!! It’s definitely clear who is genuine and who isn’t xx

  • Loved this post. I am exactly the same. I always look for bloggers that blog the same topics as me, beauty, lifestyle etc: I also find we can also inspire each other and gain inspiration and ideas. I have had the most enjoyable time so far since I’ve started blogging and i have started speaking to other bloggers too. I never thought starting to write would lead me to where i am now, its crazy. xx

    • Aww thanks, Leighanne! I’m glad you loved it. Other bloggers are definitely an amazing way to feel inspired. I’m so pleased you’ve had a great time blogging so far. That’s so lovely to hear some positivity regarding blogging xx
