5 Ways To Add ‘Life’ To Your Bedroom

5 Ways To Add 'Life' To Your Bedroom

Like most young adults who still live at their family home with their parents, I cannot wait until the day I move out and I can decorate my house exactly how I want to. But for now, I’ll just stick with adding my own touch on my bedroom and throwing suggestions at my Mum when she wants some interior advice.

A bedroom is such an important room of the house as it has so many functions like sleeping, getting ready, relaxing and of course the obvious. I try to put my personality into my bedroom and really make it a place which feels entirely my own because essentially it is.

By adding life to your bedroom, you take it from being just a room to your room.

Here are my 5 ways to add life to your bedroom!

Add plants and flowers

One of my obsessions since hitting my twenties is houseplants. Is that one of those weird interests you get when you’re an adult? I don’t own many plants but I absolutely love the look and feel plants can bring to a room. Whether they’re real or fake, plants can bring such a fresh feel. I love adding flowers wherever I can to give things an elegant and pretty touch, whilst I like to add plants for extra details and a more natural side.

Add prints and photos

Prints and photos are one of the easiest ways to bring life to a room. Photos can hold so many memories and can truly reflect you. Prints are another great way to get personal and really bring your personality into a room. You could opt for meaningful or inspirational quotes, funny phrases or literally whatever draws your attention the most.

BlissPrints are a brand I’ve been following on Twitter for a good while now and have always admired their prints, so when I kindly got to review some I was more than excited to finally have some of their prints up.

Since my room is already pretty printed out, I thought it would be nice to almost gift my boyfriend these prints and add them to his room, especially since we spend so much time together there anyway.

The first one is ‘And So The Adventure Begins‘* with the date of when we first got together. I thought this was such a sweet print and a great way to always be reminded of our special date. I’ve never seen anything like this before so thought it was such a wonderful idea.

These prints range from £3.50-£5.50 depending on which size you opt for (A3, A4, A5) which in my opinion is super affordable and a great price.

You can also get 20% any prints from BlissPrints with my code…

With so many gorgeous prints to choose from, a gallery wall is such a great idea to make use of a plain wall in your bedroom and add some of your personality to it.

Add Scents to your bedroom

For me, scents is a massive one and can definitely create a theme throughout the room. I’m quite specific on the type of scents I like. I much prefer fruity, floral and sweet scents like coconut or vanilla as opposed to more winter based scents.

You can add scents to your room through candles, room diffusers, room sprays and air fresheners to name a few. When it comes to deciding on the type of smell you wish to add to your room to bring it to life, it can depend on a range of different things like your favourite scents, the type of mood you wish to create, what scents you associate different things with or any seasonal scents.

You might also wish to opt for warmer and richer smells during the autumn-winter period to create a more warm and cosy feel to your bedroom. Whilst in the winter you might choose to go for something more fresher and lighter to accommodate the hotter weather.

5 Ways To Add 'Life' To Your Bedroom

Make your bedside table reflect you

Beside tables is one of those things that I always find can get incredibly messy and untidy very quickly. I end up piling no amount of books and random pieces on top of mine before I think to tidy it. A beside is definitely one of my most used pieces in my bedroom other than my bed.

You might not think about your beside too much but if you want to add a little more to it then a great place to start is to think about what you like and what you reach for often. This might include a reading lamp, a book, some hand cream, your glasses and a spot to charge your phone.

It’s also a good idea that when you are styling up your bedside to ensure that you are utilising not only the space you have but also the storage, so you can prevent things looking untidy and overwhelmed.

Consider the lighting

Much like the scent, lighting can really help set the mood and feel for a room. When deciding on what lighting to opt for, consider things like what colours you’d like – would you like something quite cool toned or would you prefer the room to be warmer?

There’s also the brightness to make a note of because you don’t want the light to be so bright you find it hard to unwind at night, so getting that just right is essential to getting a good well earned rest.

You could also think about what you’ll use to bring light into the room. There’s the obvious like lamps and ceiling lights, but you might also opt to bring in light from things like candles or fairy lights.

Whatever you decide to go for ensuring it reflects the kind of mood you wish to go for and that it flows with the rest of the room.
